아시아, 1982년 킹 크림슨, UK의 베이시스토 및 보컬 존 웨튼, 예스의 기타리스트 스티브 하우, 예스와 버글스의 기보디스트 제프 다운스, ELP 드러머 칼 팔머가 결성한 프로그레시브록 그룹이다. 아시아의 공연은 내용의 측면에서 시기별로 아주 큰 차이를 보이지 않는다. 보컬이 누구인가에 따라 공연 분위기는 다르다. 또 스티브 하우가 참여하지 않는 아시아의 공연은 아시아가 아니라고 주장하는 팬들도 많다. 올린 1983공연의 보컬은 그레그 레이크가, 1993공연의 보컬은 존 페인이 담당했다. 존 페인은 1991년부터 2006년까지 오랜 기간을 아시아 보컬로 활약했다. 웨튼 못지 않게 그레그 레이크의 보컬도 매력적인데, 레이크는 1983년 초반기 잠깐만 아시아에서 활약했다. 스티브 하우는 올린 모든 공연에 등장하며, 웨튼 중심의 원년 멤버들 공연은 1982, 2010, 2012 공연이다.
아시아의 초창기 원년 맴버들 1982 공연 중 음질 좋은 것은 거의 없다. 올린 82 공연의 경우, 음질은 좋으나 아쉽게도 웨튼의 컨디션이 100%는 아니다. 2010, 2012 공연은 아시아 원년 멤버들이 재결합한 후 공연들이다. 웨튼의 건강 상태가 나빠지면서 하우는 2013년 아시아에 탈퇴, 웨튼은 2017년 사망 ... 사실상 현재 아시아는 더 이상 없다고 해도 과언은 아니다.
